New light beer for Chanukkah

Finally it's here - "Chanukkah Light Beer". The Danish Jewish Museum marks the holiday with a new beer in collaboration with Ørbæk Brewery. Already from 2 November, the beer can be bought in the museum's shop, where there will be tastings all day during the museum's opening hours.

And it happened in the year 3596 (164 BC) that Judas Maccabeus rededicated the Temple and a miracle of light happened. The holiday of Chanukkah is celebrated by lighting candles in the chanukkia (candlestick) – one for each of the 8 days that the miracle of light lasted. The ninth arm is used to light the other candles.

We look forward to lighting our large candlestick in front of the museum for Chanukkah, which this year falls from Sunday December 18th to December 26th. Of course, there is still a long way to go, but this year the festival can be celebrated a little extra at the museum with this "Lysøl", which can be bought in the museum's shop from Wednesday 2 November.

The new Chanukkah beer based on Ørbæk Bryggeri's traditional Danish dark white beer (alc. 1,8%), which was once one of the most common types of beer in Denmark. Now it is mostly drunk in winter - also by many who celebrate Christmas. The bottle contains 75 cl. and the content corresponds to 0,9 items – or approximately 0,1 for each candle in the candlestick.

The idea for the beer is inspired by the Jewish museum in Stockholm's 'chanukkah most'. We have made our own "Chanukkah Light Beer" to mark the holiday. But there is no reason to wait, because it tastes really good and fits perfectly with the season, regardless of whether you are celebrating Chanukkah or Christmas.

"Chanukkah Lysøl" is a dark white beer. The bottle contains 75 cl. (alc. 1,8% = 0,9 object). Price: 1 for DKK 50, 3 for 120.
