A unique cinema experience

THE END OF THE NIGHT

THE END OF THE NIGHT is a cinematic VR experience that takes you inside the mind of a man, back to the painful memories of the night, during World War II, when he fled Nazi-occupied Denmark for Sweden. On an October night in 1943, you find yourself in a rowing boat, in the sensuous and overwhelming architectural surroundings of the Danish Jewish Museum, which is precisely based on the story of the escape.

Surrounded by darkness, you come face to face with an aging man, Josef, who guides you through his painful memories of that fateful night. You sail through a landscape of fragmented memories and gradually the sea gives way to the streets, buildings and people that fill his thoughts. Through the physical proximity to Josef and the story he tells, the audience is involved in the trauma he lives with and the guilt he feels for having survived – when those he cared about were left behind. It is a personal, powerful tale of escape, survival, guilt, but also hope that speaks into the present.
