A traveling exhibition returns home
400 years of Jewish life in Denmark

The traveling exhibition “400 Years of Jewish Life in Denmark” returns to Copenhagen after traveling around the country and being shown in 8 different cities over the past almost three years. It will be on display in the City Hall Hall at Copenhagen City Hall from October 29 to November 10, 2025.
The exhibition tells the story of 400 years of Jewish life from the arrival of Jews to Denmark in 1622 to the present day. In each city, the exhibition was enriched with stories that tell of local Jewish life. Together, the exhibition provides an overview and outlook on Danish Jewish history, both in general and with local implications, over 400 years.
The exhibition opened in Copenhagen in November 2022 in the presence of HM Queen Margrethe II. It then visited 8 cities over the next 2 years: Randers, Nakskov, Odense, Fredericia, Helsingør, Aarhus, Aalborg and HorsensNow it has returned to Copenhagen with all the local elements and stories added.
We would like to say a huge thank you to all our partners: Museum Østjylland, Nakskov Local History Archive, Museum Lolland-Falster, Historiens Hus in Odense, Fredericia Museum, Museum Helsingør, Aarhus City Archives, Aalborg City Archives and the Industrial Museum in Horsens. It would not have been possible without you and the great local support and interest.

The exhibition has been developed and produced in collaboration between the Jewish Community of Denmark, the Danish Jewish Museum and Operate. The content of the local elements has been developed by the local partners.
