Holiday photos from the escape – photo albums from Danish Jews' refugee stay in Sweden 1943-1945

In October 1943, the vast majority of Danish Jews managed to escape Nazi persecution to Sweden. Here, they spent a year and a half as refugees.

But how did the Danish Jews experience their refugee life in Sweden? Which places, situations and people have had an impact on the experience of being in exile?

Some very special photo albums provide a unique insight into and images of the time while helping us to understand how the stay was remembered in the families.

This evening, curator at the Danish Jewish Museum, Signe Bergman Larsen, will talk about her research and work with the photo albums.
