Culture Night 2023

13/10/23

Come and experience an evening at the museum

We commemorate the 80th anniversary of the action against the Danish Jews. We shine a light on the museum's facade. We have mediators in the exhibition "Flight and persecution in the 20th century" and we also send our skilled guides out to Slotsholmen, where they will talk about the flight in October 1943. Then meet us either on the harbor buses or at the Danish Jewish Museum, where you can also taste different from the museum shop.

On today's occasion, we are also launching three brand new children's books at 18:30 in the museum shop.

The museum is co-publisher of "The city that whispered" which is aimed at children aged 2-5. It is a translation of an American book that tells about the dramatic October days in 1943 in Gilleleje and how people stood together and helped refugees to Sweden.

Our second children's book is the reviewer praised "The flight to Sweden" - the story of the teddy bear Mo and his people - When there was war in Denmark". This book is aimed at children aged 6-10 and on today's occasion you can meet the book's author Sascha Kempinski who will sign and talk about what it was like to write his family's history seen through teddy bear's eyes.

We have also invited the artist Tatiana Goldberg, who has illustrated the brand new graphic novel "In the time of distress".

For the first 50 children, there is free chocolate in the museum shop. For the adults, we have tastings in the form of beer and tea.

As something very special, you can book free tickets for the screening of the critically acclaimed VR film 'Nattens Ende'. Note that you can only sit 3 at a time. We show it at 18.15, at 19.30, at 20.45 and at 22.00 p.m. For tickets, write to info@jewmus.dk and specify the number and time.
