The Danish Jewish Museum is expanding its efforts to disseminate information on digital platforms. In late summer, two whole new podcast series will see the light of day. One is called 'Behind the glass' and will focus on the stories the museum's objects tell. The second is called 'Something to talk about' and will present new perspectives on Danish Jewish history, also in an international perspective. It follows the publication of the podcast 'Outside the reach of the Nazis' about the fate of the Bulgarian Jews produced by Simon Kratholm Ankjærgaard in July.
The Danish Jewish Museum would like to bring the story of Jewish life in Denmark to the whole country. The museum therefore works purposefully with ways to convey the story and make it accessible, so that it can reach as many people as possible. In the new podcast series, which complement the already existing podcast Jødiske mysterier fra Danmarkshistorien, which is published in collaboration with Jødisk Informationscenter and the hosts Bent Blüdnikow and Bent Lexner, we will both convey stories from the museum's collection and exhibitions and focus on stories that deepen or perspective Danish Jewish history.
With the series "Behind the Glass" you will get exclusive access to the museum's most fascinating objects as the museum's curators and experts take you behind the exhibits. Here you will have a unique opportunity to discover the secrets behind some of the museum's most iconic and hidden treasures. The first series will focus on the objects on display in the exhibition Flight and persecution in the 20th century, where museum inspectors Signe Bergman Larsen and Sara Fredfeldt Stadager go in depth with the objects and the stories they contain and represent.
I "Something to Talk About" we focus on Danish Jewish history and culture in an international perspective. Through personal narratives, historical analyzes and conversations with experts, we explore the many facets of Jewish life that have significance for Jewish history in Denmark or contribute to it in relief This series is perfect for those who want to understand the contributions and challenges that Danish Jews have experienced throughout the ages or gain new international perspectives on Danish Jewish history
These formats also provide the opportunity to invite other researchers, authors, experts and, for example, witnesses to history in the studio to talk about new exciting topics. Because there really is a lot to tell and talk about.
