The power of the word
Traveling exhibition

In the spring of 2026, we will visit four libraries around the country with a new traveling exhibition. It is called The Power of the Word and focuses on tolerance, anti-Semitism and words. With the exhibition we hope to contribute to a more nuanced and enlightened viewpoint in a difficult present, where prejudice and hatred against Jews are once again on the rise.
The exhibition tells the story of the Jewish minority in Denmark as part of our shared narrative. It is Danish history that shows something fundamental about how a society handles diversity.
"Jewish life has existed in Denmark for 400 years. However, anti-Semitism has a history of more than 1000 years in the country. With this exhibition, we want to create a greater historical awareness of both the history of the word and its significance for Jewish life in a Danish context," says museum director Janus Møller Jensen. "There is a huge need for information about what anti-Semitism is and what it means."
The exhibition was developed as part of the government's action plan against antisemitism and designed by Torden & Lynild with inspiration from the museum's own architecture. In this way, we take both the core narrative and our design language abroad.
We look forward to taking the museum on a tour, meeting the libraries, and collaborating with local school classes in a workshop that will become an integrated part of each exhibition period.
