RAMBAM has landed
New release

The latest issue of RAMBAM is now available
Last week we lit the large chanukia in front of the museum for the annual Chanukkot. A gathering on the occasion of Chanukkah, where we talk about the year that has passed at the museum and, together with the Society for Danish Jewish History, present our joint annual publication: RAMBAM. Journal of Jewish Culture and History.
This year's edition includes a thematic section on Jewish life in the provinces, where Jewish life in Aarhus, Bogense and Nyborg is followed from the arrival of Jews to the respective cities up to the present day. In addition, the magazine contains a number of interesting articles on various aspects of Jewish life in Denmark.
New perspectives are presented on Christian IV and the view of Jews in the 16th and 17th centuries, on Jews' access to academic degrees in the 18th century, on Enlightenment ideas about education and patriotism at the Caroline School in the early years of the 19th century, an introduction to the history of Isidor von Hessen from Skive and his importance for the town locally. In addition, there is the museum's report on the past year and a number of reviews of new books within the field.
Rambam is the only professional journal that focuses on Jewish life and culture in a Danish context. It is published jointly by the Danish Jewish Museum and the Society for Danish Jewish History by an editorial group consisting of Sofie Lene Bak, Therkel Stræde, Signe Bergman Larsen and Janus Møller Jensen, among others with funding from Ms. Helga Melchior's Family Foundation.
The magazine costs 200 DKK in retail, but if you join the Society for Danish Jewish History, you get it for free as part of the membership, which also gives you free access to the museum with a companion, access to the society's genealogical databases, and a number of exciting lectures and activities. You can join the company right here.
