The Stumbling Block by Henriette Harris
Lectures

On September 4th at 17:00 PM, Henriette Harris will give a lecture at the Danish Jewish Museum.
In her lecture, Henriette Harris focuses on the world's largest decentralized memorial: the stumbling block. She talks about the origin and spread of the memorial and about its creator, the German artist Gunter Demnig.
In her book 'They were us. A book about stumbling blocks', published in May 2025 by Alpha, Harris also writes about eight of the destinies that have been stumbling blocks in Denmark over the years, and in the lecture she will touch on the history of some of these people. In the book, she also takes the reader, using stumbling blocks as a clue, to Oslo, Berlin and Milan, and she explains why she has chosen these three cities as examples of the international reach of stumbling blocks.
After the lecture there will be time to ask questions.
