What is Danishness?

Learn more about Danish Jewish immigration and integration as you explore the phenomenon - Danishness - through a historical reading theater and the museum's objects.
A space for history(s)
At the museum
The students explore the architecture at the Danish Jewish Museum and make architectural sketches with masking tape and black cardboard. They then put into words their perception of the museum's space and reflect on questions such as: What thoughts trigger the experience of the space? How does the space affect my body? How can a space tell a story?
How do we teach the Holocaust?
At the museum
Are you or your professional group lacking inspiration for how you can work with the Holocaust? We offer specially tailored courses with our subject inspectors, who can share insight into how the museum teaches and works with the Holocaust as a Danish experience.

In class
Well over 100 children do not join the escape across the strait because their parents fear for their safety. Instead, the children become 'hidden children' with families around Denmark. When Tove's mother flees to Sweden, Tove becomes one of them. Get a visit from Tove in your class.

We are developing new teaching courses for the middle school level in collaboration with the School Service - knowledge center for external learning environments. In this context, we are looking for teachers and classes who are interested in exploring the relevance and possibilities of the museum.
